Set up Additive or Fixative

An additive is a substance in a blood collection tube, such as EDTA, Sodium Citrate or a clot activator. A fixative preserves a tissue sample, such as Formalin. Set these up first: each container type that holds extracted material or tissue is linked to one of them.

The Additive or Fixative list with code, name, type and status

Add an additive or fixative​

  1. Go to Laboratory › Laboratory Masters › Additive or Fixative.

  2. Click Add. The form opens on the right. The empty Additive or Fixative form

  3. Fill in the fields:

  4. Click Save. The form closes and the new entry appears in the list.

Change or deactivate an additive or fixative​

  1. In the list, click the ⋮ button at the end of the row and choose Edit. The row menu with the Edit option
  2. Change the fields you need. To stop using the entry, switch Status to Inactive.
  3. Click Save.

Entries cannot be deleted from this screen. Make an entry Inactive instead.

Good to know​

  • The Type column in the list shows whether each entry is an additive or a fixative.
  • Click Cancel to close the form without saving.
